Term 2 Morning Duty

Hi to all,

Link below is the Term 2 Morning Duty list which start from tomorrow.
You may notice most of your names are repeated in many weeks. This is because the Secondary 4s and 5s are not involve in the duties anymore but they have not stepdown yet. When there is not enough manpower, they will still be call back to help up in some of the duties.

Regarding attire.
For the Sec 2s, every MONDAY and Wednesday(as it is LSA), your should be wearing School Full Uniform with tie for duty. Other days, you can wear your Numbeer 1 tee.

For sec 3s, every MONDAY and Thursday should wear Full Uniform with tie. (as Thursday is USA. ) Other days you can wear your Number 1 tee as well.

Take Note :

For Commander , Announcer you are expected to wear Full Uniform + Tie for the whole week.
Those who are doing Flag Raising, you have to rotate among yourself which days your are doing in the hall or at the Parade Square.

TO THE FIFTH COUNCIL
Saturday, February 27, 2010

Hey councillors!

It felt great to be back today for your council investiture, I am sorry I was unable to speak to all of you because of a range of reasons but I want you all to know that I still do care a lot about Council and I hope my following words will allow your brain juices to flow :)

First of all, I'd like to congratulate the 5th Council Executive Committee members - Jiawei, Matt, Felicia, Gracia Stefani and Vito on their appointment. Surely the journey is definitely is not a bed of roses and hasn't been easy but I promise you that the experience is going to be priceless. You'll never feel this way ever again - being loved by all the teachers in the school and walking around the staff room as if it's an air conditioned classroom. Simply because everyone loves you so much! I've never gotten as much love in my life than in KCP frankly and even these days when I am back, the staff room welcomes me back as ever. I promise and bet upon my life, that you are so gonna miss all of these when you officially graduated from the mighty Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School! Just work as a team and you'll realize that things will be 10 times easier than they seemed to be, and the friendship you'll forge in the team will never be broken. I love my EXCO so much that I won't bear to give it up in exchange of anything else. Nonetheless, please study hard and do well for your O's (like our dear Rayson!) and remember that we'll always be here for y'all and so will the mighty mentors of Council be! Stay strong and keep the SPIRIT there! I forgot to add that, we're so awesomely proud of the new Council song!

Second of all, to my super juniors (sec 2s)! I know almost none of you except probably James but it's okay! Cos I still love you all! Welcome to the Council family! I'll have to repeat myself that it's an awesome place to be in. It's never about the fame, limelight nor glory or anything like that. It's about serving the school and through those, trust me, you'll love the school more and more each day, in ways you'd never imagine. Last year, I shared with my juniors -- the Sec 3s now -- who are your seniors about the badge theory. The question is: How much is your Council badge worth? Yes, it's monetary value is 5 dollars every time you misplace your badge and get a new one from the council teachers. But I am telling you, your badge is worth far more than 5 dollars.. because your badge is EVERYTHING it means to you being a councillor. It's value is worthless if you think it is, but it's priceless should you believe so. This is because when you think your badge is worthless, you will not treat it with respect, you will not honour it and you will definitely not treasure it. On the contrary, if it's priceless to you, you will always remember the oath and promise you've made to commit to council and to serve the school. So even though it's just 5 bucks in the eyes of many, it can mean so much more to you! And I hope it does. Life in council is never going to be easy, many think it's fun but in actual fact, it's tiring. We, the councillors, think it is fun, because we find joy in what we do. I certainly hope you'll find joy in what you do in the coming three years and be aflame for truth! I'll try to make it back for your camp :)

Thirdly, to the existing councillors - some of my peers and my juniors, please know that I always love you guys as much as I did. I know it's hard to cope with studies and council but remember, once you're committed into doing something, it's like a calling, you should always be committed to it. I believe in time management and I know it works like miracles. I like it when I am so packed that I have to dig and to set aside time for studying - because I know that is when I will really go and study. I mean, when we are too free, we tend to think we have so much time that we'll start to procrastinate! There's always two sides to a coin - try to think on the better side though it's so much easier to dwell in self pity and denial on the other side - I tend to do that too. But because Council has brought me immense joy and happiness, and I am sure it will bring to you the same, it doesn't hurt a bit to think on the brighter side!!!! Always serve the school with pride and do not complain when you have duties - they are fun, right? Standing at the school gates, chatting with your fellow councillor or just appreciating the scenery, it's awesome? I'd also like to add that there are many things the school does for a reason or another, so please do try to understand their point of view, and don't yank like any other student does. If you do so, then I am gonna ask you, what's the difference between you and any other student? My next question is a self reflection question to those who know it themselves that they haven't been exactly very much committed to Council anymore. I want to ask you: Why made you join Council in the very first place? Where has the passion and fire burning for Council gone to? I've always wanted to ask this to people who don't regard Council as an important part of their lives. You know, as much as you can do without Council, it simply means, Council can do without you. Then if we can, why do we need to keep you in the Council and give you unnecessary CCA points when we could have given to someone else? Stop, think, reflect. That's how only you'll grow.

Finally, I miss Council super much! Keep the SPIRIT flying. :)

Lots and lots of love,
Your 4th Council President
